The Story
Dalva Colheita 1990 is a single vintage tawny style Port aged in oak casks for extended maturation before bottling. This particular release was harvested in 1990 and bottled in 2024, meaning the wine spent approximately 34 years ageing in wood.
Unlike Vintage Port, which matures primarily in bottle, Colheita Ports develop entirely in cask. Over decades, the wine slowly evolves from fresh fruit toward the nutty, caramelised and oxidative complexity that defines well aged tawny Port.
Expect aromas of walnut, dried fig, orange peel and toffee. On the palate the texture is smooth and layered with dried fruit, roasted almond and gentle caramel notes supported by balancing acidity. The finish is long, warm and nutty.
Colheita Ports are fully matured on release and remain stable for weeks after opening when stored cool.
