The Story
National Rums of Jamaica LTD, Long Pond TECC 2007 is a high-ester Jamaica Pure Single Rum, representing a collaboration between Velier and the historic Long Pond Distillery. This expression carries the TECC marque, which signifies one of the highest ester concentrations produced at the distillery, resulting in an exceptionally intense and aromatic profile. Distilled in a double-retort pot still in 2007, it was aged for 11 years in the tropical climate of Jamaica before being bottled at a cask strength of 62.5% in 2018.
The maturation process in the tropics accelerates the interaction between the spirit and the oak, leading to a significant angel's share and a deep concentration of flavor. As a Pure Single Rum, it is produced from 100% pot still distillation at a single distillery, offering a pure representation of the Trelawny style. This release is highly regarded by enthusiasts for its balance of high-ester funk and the refined structure provided by over a decade of tropical aging.
Tasting Notes The nose is powerful with aromas of overripe pineapple, acetone, and bright citrus zest. On the palate, it is intense and oily with notes of fermented tropical fruits, green olives, and dark chocolate. The finish is long and complex with a dry wood spice and lingering hints of tobacco and leather.
