Shoppen’s Sisterhood of Spirits: A Recurring Tasting Series

It’s time to pull up a chair. We are launching a new, recurring series at Shoppen designed to celebrate the feminine perspective in the world of craft spirits.

We’ve noticed a gap in representation during our tastings, and we’re closing it, not just to make room, but because of a hidden advantage: science shows that women often have a significantly higher density of taste buds, leading to a more nuanced and sensitive palate. Most aren't even aware they have this "tasting edge," and we want to help you unlock it during these sessions.

Led by WSET-certified spirits professional Louise Rosenkrands for the first round, this series returns every three months with a new category. Each spirit is explored in two distinct sessions: an introductory foundation followed by an in-depth masterclass. This is a dedicated safe space for women, trans women, and non-binary individuals.

Phase 1: The Foundations of Whisky

For our first session, we explore the architecture of whisky. We will cover the essentials of production and the fascinating variances in style that define the category.
